Trip to Bassenthwaite
The few days that me and my girlfriend had away were absolutely great. The hotel we stayed in was as great as we had expected it to be! Our room was excellent, a good size and had been recently re-furbished so it had a nice clean and fresh feel. The en-suite was excellent; it had a large corner bath with a waterfall feature by the taps, so as you turn it on the water flows nicely into the bath. It was also nice to have a small tea/coffee facility in the room, which was re-set with biscuits each day.
The views from our room were lovely; we could see the gardens of the hotel, the lake and hills in the background:
The hotel had many facilities; in which we made great use of the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and steam room, however my favourite was the games room in which there was a pool table and table tennis. The bar in the hotel was very nice and all the staff in the hotel was extremely pleasant.
On the second day we were there we went into Keswick to do some fell walking. We climbed one hill which was called Latrigg, which wasn’t too bad a walk as it wasn’t too steep; however the views from the top were breathtaking. We were high enough up to have great views of Keswick town centre, the mountains in the distant and both Derwant water and Bassenthwaite lake. The walk only took us around an hour so we had plenty of time to attempt to climb Skiddaw; we got about a quarter of the way up when the weather turned on us. It began to hailstone and rain really heavily so we made our way back down. It had rained that much that on our way down my girlfriend slipped twice, which i found rather funny!
Other than that we had a fantastic time and would deffinitely go again. Check out some of the photo’s below:(click to enlarge)
