iPhone iOS 5 lock screen camera icon missing

logo

Apple has recently released ios 5 to the world and it’s a rather big update. With more than 200 new features one of those was the ability to access the iPhones/iPad’s camera from the lock screen.

I bet you are wondering where the hell it is, well it doesn’t appear when you go to unlock your phone, it’s hidden and can be seen by double tapping the home button when the lock screen in on.

I would much prefer it to appear no matter what but that can be sorted in another update.

Thanks for the tip! That is one of the features I’ve been wanting. I agree, I hope Apple removes the need for a double tap.

On my phone, I have seen the camera button fw times but doesn’t appear all the time, even after double tap on the home screen.

When I double click I don’t get the camera icon but the photo icon. If I click that I get the same photo shown each time. Any ideas.

Are you using an iPad2? The shortcut to the camera will only work on the iPhone, not on an iPad2. On the iPad2, you’ll see exactly what you describe – the camera (or slideshow) icon that will bring up the first photo in the camera roll when clicked.

Thought I was going nuts, first it’s there and then it’s not!
