Seriously. I update my antivirus. I have firewalls. I've formatted my computer, tried msn on a brand new computer, and the thing still signs me out and sends links to my contacts. The tools don't work. They basically tell me there's nothing to clean, and that my computer is virus-free. I don't think it has to do with us users getting infected at all. For the record, only my MSN account with hotmail is affected. I have different MSN accounts on my computer and they are not plagued by this problem. These accounts are not registered under hotmail or Microsoft mail either. So it means that it has everything to do with email and not the computer.

I don't know what virus attacked my msn account but all my contacts got deleted. Luckily email no problem. I can't chat with any friends now. I first suspected when I received a failure email notice to emails I've never sent. And I'm so cautious as I've never click on any links or files sent over msn. Next thing I know all my msn contacts suddenly disappear. Currently I don't know if I've been sending crappy messages to my contacts. What should I do?

Got to say agree with the above! Your "anger" at this is unfounded. I have the FULL ZoneAlarm Package AV, AntiSpyware, Firewall etc and have NOT clicked any links in MSN, EVER!, even from people I trust I am aware of the dangers of link clicking blindly. Yet I have sent & received these links!

I've done MULTIPLE AV SCANS, disabling each one in turn, and found nothing! I "cured" my problem by changing my password BUT I'm not confident this has "cured" it if you get me!

I also use link scanner for any links I may be interested in! So I really don't see how this has got on my system!

I understand your "anger", it frustrates me when I explain to people about things & what to do, what not to do, how to etc AGAIN & AGAIN! But expressing it on site is not wise!

The people you are "advising" have already been infected & are upset & angry about that without you putting them down. Whether its through a lack of knowledge, stupidity or accidentally they are turning to you for support not criticism!

yes i have tow firewalls and mcafree and a few other anit spy ware and malwrae tools and programs but they ones you said aboove would fix them are trial runing and will not work fully and some of cannot use creditcards to buy new software online etc.. and cannot pay through the pay pal systems and besides that how can we really trust a secure site because is not that what windows guarantees and then allows this spamming virus to be in their stuff and i have done everything i have read to do and still the msn virus and the conflickr virus keep attacking my online friends and i believe that if you do not have the virus and not click any of the links it knows.. this is one reason i think there is a person behind it because the messages in the links change everytime but have your personal info in it tha so happens msn askes you before downloading the messenger and there are autoupdates that allow this virus into your system so what now do i do because my computer is not fully paid for yet and this is pissing them off of who i am buying it from.. yes easy home is the one i am speaking of they are tired of fixing my computer every 2-3 weeks because of this crap and yes i have firewalls and anti-whatever programs fro online free and what they put in it but they are only trial ones and run out in 30-90 days and asked to be registered and you cannot do that because you do not have the product key from them and the online free ones i think have been corrupted .. htis crap cost me my desk top computer and it is turning me off of using them altogether and using the internet at all anymore..so what now?

You sound really upset at all the people who get infected. So what if a user gets infected and they do have AVG and ZoneAlarm running?

ZoneAlarm is not a guarantee of not getting a virus.

Stop being so angry. People should protect themselves, agreed, but not everyone knows how in spite of all the articles written on the topic.
