I bet you are wondering where the hell it is, well it doesn’t appear when you go to unlock your phone, it’s hidden and can be seen by double tapping the home button when the lock screen in on.

I would much prefer it to appear no matter what but that can be sorted in another update.

I own an Alienware m15x and have done so since September 2010 when i made the life changing decision to go independant and live with my girlfriend in a nice cosy flat. Before the Alienware i owned a Dell Desktop and it did me proud until i wanted something a bit more practical and it started to get a bit dated.

I kept my eye on a lower budget laptop, namely the Dell Studio XPS 16 but after reading bad reviews about it overheating i decided to go upwards for the Alienware. There were no other laptops that cut it for me. People think Dell aren’t very good but to be honest i have never ever had 1 single problem after owning 3 of their devices (this includes the Alienware).

The main specs of my laptop are:-

Alienware M15x Gaming Laptop – Cosmic Black

Intel® Core™ i7 940XM (2.13 GHz to 3.33 GHz frequency range)

4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]

1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 5850 Graphics Card

500GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive

Windows® 7 Pro 64bit

I mainly wanted a new laptop to do work on and the Studio XPS 16 would do exactly that but i bit the bullet and went for the top of the range Alienware so i could do some gaming as well. Has this given the PS3 some rest? Deffinitely, it’s an absolute power house. Overpriced? Probably.

I love my iPhone, it’s my everyday gadget for pretty much anything I want. I can obviously call people, text people and do all the usual a normal phone does, but the iPhone takes it to the next level. I like asking other iPhone owners what applications they use and recommend. Below is what I use as of todays date.

iTrophies – This is a great application if you are a Playstation 3 owner. You can see who’s online, check your trophy progress and even compare your trophies against your friends. A must have app for any PS3 owner with an iPhone.

WordPress – I’ve only used this a few times but it’s worth having if you are out and abouts. What if you have a spare minute to post?

eBuddy – An all in one messenger for the iPhone. You can be logged into MSN, Facebook and more and you’ll be able to see who’s online in all areas and chat simultaneously.

AroundMe – Again, I don’t use this application much but it’s very clever at what it does.

eBay – Speaks for itself. Bid, buy and pay for items while on the move.

Saw VI – Now I’m an avid Saw fan and this application is funny! You can record your voice and it will output it as Jigsaws. You can then email the recordings to people to freak them out.

That is all I’m using at the moment because I had to send my older iPhone away for repairs and got a new one back. That one had loads of apps on but haven’t been bothered to download them yet.

I made the jump and bought myself an iphone, in fact it was around this time last year when i was looking into getting a new phone and iPhone got the winning choice. It’s been a great phone unti iPhone Firmware 3.0 came out.

Around a month or two ago the WiFi capabilities of the iPhone started to deteriorate, it would hardly find any wireless networks, if it did manage to connect to one it would drop within 5 minutes and revert back to Edge/3G or it would be running like a snail. It got pretty painful because it was my most used feature of the iPhone.

I searched and searched the Internet for answers and i found out that many other iPhone owners were having the same trouble after upgrading to firmware 3.0. I decided to live with this and brushed the issue off and started to use standard network cellular data, i did get used to the speed but geez, i paid £400 for this and it doesn’t work properly.

I restored it, reset the settings, wiped it, i pretty much tried everything, it still didn’t work. I took my phone into the O2 shop on Sunday to see what they could do and luckily it is still under warranty by around 2 weeks. They tried the WiFi and it wouldn’t find it (i was actually scared of it working because i’d look like an ass) they tried their in store iPhone and viola! it found a network.

They sent it off and now i have no phone for 14 days They didn’t even offer me a load phone.

Anyway, for the people with the same problem i highly suggest you send your iPhone off for repairs if your iPhone:-

Cannot find any WiFi networks

Has low WiFi signal even when 2CM away from the Wifi hotspot

Find networks but doesn’t connect

Connects to network but is very slow, even on full signal

Send it in! It’s a problem with the onboard WiFi chip/

Here’s the steps i’ve took to try and fix it.

The device shows no Wi-Fi address or Bluetooth address (Tap Settings > General > About and scroll down to Wi-Fi Address or Bluetooth).

iPhone or iPod Touch appears to be connected to a Wi-Fi network but cannot use Wi-Fi for checking e-mail, surfing the Internet, or other data transactions.

iPhone or iPod Touch showing Wi-Fi or Bluetooth icon on device as grayed out.

iPhone not able to pair with Bluetooth device or accessory.

When you tap Settings > Wi-Fi and then tap next to the network, no values or entries for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, or DNS appear.

Check out Apple support on this subject.

If you somehow get this working again, let me know.
