Massive retailer Wal-mart has gone Blu-ray exclusive which will be in effect by June according to their official blog.

I think this is another nail in HD-DVD’s coffin because one of the biggest retailers is dropping support for them. But not only that, Toshiba is rumoured to be dropping out of it’s own format according to Gamespot.

Earlier this year Warner Bros. hit the headlines when they said they would be dropping support for HD-DVD and going Blu-ray exclusive and rumours began floating around that biggest box office earner, Paramount would follow suit.

This is bad news for HD-DVD fans. I don’t own either a standalone Blu-ray or HD-DVD player yet apart from the Blu-ray player in my Playstation 3.

I don’t really watch Blu-rays, i’v only got one copy, and thats the free Casino Royale i recieved from Sony. Could the end of the format war be closer? Who knows…
